Keynote: Climate, Urban Forests, and Human Health
Kathleen Wolf, Ph.D., Research Social Scientist, University of Washington College of the Environment
Dr. Kathleen Wolf, one of our most popular keynoters, will bring her latest research and policy work concerning the intersections of climate, public health, and urban forestry. Urban residents are at risk from a variety of climate stressors, which can cause both physical and mental harm. Urban forests and tree cover play a critical role in helping cities address climate change, yet are also vulnerable to changes in climate, and therefore in need of robust strategies to adapt. Dr. Wolf teamed up with U.S. Forest Service climate scientists on a report that suggests urban forest strategies at all scales. Her presentation will introduce practical actions to address climate change in urban forest management, and promote human health and well-being through nature-based solutions.
