The GLC Leadership Fellowship Program brings top health care practitioners and leaders from both policy and management settings across the U.S. to the University of Michigan for several days and/or weeks to teach a class or short course, give seminars, advise students, meet with faculty and interact with the campus community. The program provides a unique opportunity to bridge the gap among research, practice and teaching in the healthcare field by facilitating interaction between expert practitioners, faculty and students. The Leadership Fellows primarily interact with HMP (Health Management and Policy) students, faculty and staff but they also have in-depth conversations and explore research questions across disciplines in the Schools of Public Health, Business, Medicine, Nursing, Policy and Engineering Schools of Michigan. The Director of the Indian Health Service (IHS) recognizes individuals or groups of employees whose special efforts and contributions, beyond regular duty requirements, have resulted in significant benefits to IHS programs, priorities, or customers and fulfillment of the IHS mission.

The David A. Winston Health Policy Scholarships identifies and supports promising young people committed to health policy. It seeks to increase the number and quality of individuals trained in healthcare policy at the state and federal level by awarding deserving health policy students with financial support to further their education. The scholarship program recognizes student excellence and achievement based upon that student’s record and recommendations from faculty and colleagues.

This scholarship was for 75% of tuition for the 2008-2009 and 2009-2010 academic years. It is merit-based and only given to a handful of students each year.
