Deborah Ann Turner is a nonprofit executive and board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist currently serving as the President of the League of Women Voters of the United States. Before assuming her current role in 2020, Dr. Turner celebrated 35 years of practice as a gynecologic oncologist and medical educator that included posts at Mercy Cancer Center, the University of Nebraska, the University of Iowa, and the Medical College of Wisconsin. From 2016 until 2022, Dr. Turner was associate medical director of Planned Parenthood of the North Central States, combining her passion for patient education with her deep knowledge of public policy. Dr. Turner holds a Bachelor of Science from Iowa State University and a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Iowa in addition to earning her Juris Doctor at Drake University in 2007. She has been involved in state and national leadership for the League of Women Voters since 2010, and is dedicated to preserving access to voting rights for all. Dr. Turner has been recognized for her excellence across fields with awards including a Compassionate Care Certificate from the Schwartz Center and the 2015 National Bar Association Gertrude Rush Award, among others.
