The conference will begin with an outlook on the adoption of AI in the electoral process by election management bodies in Africa.

Participants will be invited to reflect on the opportunities and risks of AI integration in critical aspects of election administration. The conference will explore core principles that should govern AI uptake in the electoral process, including the possibility of an AI governance framework for EMBs and election observation groups to inhibit the manipulation of AI to undermine election integrity and democracy.

Lastly, the conference will reflect on the future of AI in African elections by building scenarios for positive and negative AI uptake in the electoral process and its implication for electoral democracy.
