Former New York City (NYC) school teacher, Michael Kane, will bring his leadership and organizational skills to Children’s Health Defense (CHD) as the organization’s new grassroots organizer.

When New York Mayor Bill de Blasio announced this summer he would require all NYC teachers and New York City Department of Education employees to get the COVID-19 vaccine, Kane, founder of NY Teachers for Choice, knew something needed to be done. He urged his peers to quit the teachers union and fight for their fundamental rights.

“America cannot afford to allow such dangerous precedents to be set,” Kane said. “These authoritarian restrictions will be picked up and duplicated at all levels of government throughout the country, severely impacting our freedom to move about freely, congregate and to determine our own healthcare preferences.”

As Kane said at a recent freedom rally, “The time for people who care about freedom and liberty to fight back against tyranny is now.”

In his new role at CHD, Kane will pull together a dynamic coalition of regional, state, national and international groups to create and support CHD initiatives.

Working closely with the CHD advocacy team — Rita Shreffler, Karen McDonough, Stephanie Locricchio, Aimee Villella and Melissa Bordes — Kane will provide live video and written updates to keep health freedom defenders in the loop on educational initiatives, activism, community-building, legislative issues and litigation.

On Nov. 3, Kane will help kick off the Worldwide Walkouts. For more details and/or to join or organize a Worldwide Walkout event, visit the event page.
