About us
The American Parkinson Disease Association (APDA) is a nationwide grassroots network dedicated to fighting Parkinson’s disease (PD) and works tirelessly to help the approximately one million with PD in the United States live life to the fullest in the face of this chronic, neurological disorder. Founded in 1961, APDA has raised and invested more than $252 million to provide outstanding patient services and educational programs, elevate public awareness about the disease, and support research designed to unlock the mysteries of PD and ultimately put an end to this disease. To join us in the fight against PD and to learn more about the support APDA provides nationally through our network of Chapters and Information & Referral (I&R) Centers, as well as our national Research Program and Centers for Advanced Research, please visit us at www.apdaparkinson.org.

Breaking News: Senate has passed the National Plan to End Parkinson’s Act! Now that the bill has passed through both houses of Congress, it heads to the President’s desk where it will be signed into law. This is a historic development for the Parkinson’s disease (PD) community. The Act, introduced in the House of Representatives in 2022, is the first-ever legislation focused on curing and preventing PD and ensuring quality care for those living with the disease. Since then, it has worked its way through both houses of Congress with the help of many PD advocates. Once the President signs the bill into law, this legislation will create an advisory council that will create a strategic plan to end PD through a variety of efforts. APDA will be a part of the advisory council and, as an eager participant in these initiatives, will keep you posted about the next steps in the process!
