Online applications are NOW CLOSED for LGBTQI2S youth and community advocates.

As the second of three parts, Speak OUT Hackathon will take the original findings from the 2019-20 Speak OUT Survey and offer the chance for 40-50 participants (front-line workers, violence prevention educators, and academics + LGBTQI2S youth) from across Canada to dream up creative solutions & service offerings to youth survivors of dating violence and toward the prevention of dating violence within the LGBTQI2S community.

Speak OUT Hackathon will feature:

  • Up to $5,000 in Prizes!
  • Interactive Workshops
  • Collaborative-Team Building
  • Networking Opportunities
  • A contest judged by a panel of experts and community partners!

We encourage all LGBTQI2S advocates, community service champions, academics, and creatives to apply. We will prioritize applications from QTBIPOC (queer and trans Black, Indigenous, and people of colour) gender-diverse, and trans feminine people, and people with disabilities so that we can privilege a range of perspectives and experiences at the event.

After Speak OUT Hackathon, Egale will work with the team selected by the Hackathon judges to bring your ideas to action! The selected team will be invited to participate in an advisory committee as we consult with community experts to build an intervention pilot program that we will implement at 5 organizations across Ontario.

  • All Hackathon participants will have the opportunity to join the program advisory committee after the event
  • A $100 honoraria (VISA gift card) will be given to each participant after the Hackathon and completion of an evaluation
  • Applications close January 15, 2021
