#FreeThemAll Community Action Circles with UUJMCA
We know that immigrant detention centers and prisons are not places where the inherent worth and dignity of our siblings is respected. We know that the immigration enforcement methods and the systems of mass incarceration in the United States are racist, violent, and oppressive structures that devastate families and communities, as they were designed to do.
And now, in the midst of a pandemic where COVID-19 or "coronavirus" has the capacity to easily pass between people, that violation of inherent worth & dignity, that devastation of families and communities is that much more apparent in our nation's immigrant detention centers and prisons.
While we may not be able to visit our siblings in detention or bear witness by gathering physically, we CAN make an impact through targeted, focused, online actions. We can make sure that our people who are at the highest risk of contracting/complications from coronavirus are released from the ill-equipped and inhumane conditions that are not designed to preserve their health and safety. We CAN #FreeThemAll.
If you are interested in being part of a new "Community Action Circle" - a model developed by the UU Service Committee and UU College of Social Justice - fill out this form below. We will be in touch with upcoming circles, where you will have an opportunity to gather in grounded, connected community, and take part in an online action with fellow justice makers around the state.
We know the movement to #FreeThemAll did not start with the current pandemic. And we know it will not end with it either. But today, this is our call. Join us to make an impact.
