Anti-EU Right-Wing Parties Win Big in European Election

Anti-EU Right-Wing Parties Win Big in European Election

Farage’s Brexit party becomes single biggest group; France’s Le Pen beats Macron

Anti-EU parties have made big gains in the Sunday’s European Election, securing outright victory in France, the United Kingdom and Italy. Nigel Farage’s Brexit Party, Marine Le Pen’s National Rally and Matteo Salvini’s League party declared victory in their respective countries.

Anti-establishment conservatives also registered big wins, coming out victorious in Poland and Hungary. Poland’s ruling Law and Justice party (PiS) won a crushing victory with 46 percent of the vote. Prime Minister Viktor Orban’s Fidesz party scored one of the biggest victories of the night, winning support of at least 52 percent of the electorate. Sunday’s vote was a mandate for “stopping immigration all across Europe,” Prime Minister Orban told the cheering crowd in Budapest. He vowed to “protect Christian culture in Europe.”

Both conservative parties do not belong to Salvini’s anti-EU alliance, the European Alliance of People and Nations (EAPN), but have expressed desire to work with him on the issues of immigration control and national sovereignty.

Germany’s Alternative für Deutschland (AfD), member of the Salvini-led alliance, got around 10 percent of the vote, a slight improvement from its 2014 EU election performance.

Nigel Farage’s newly formed Brexit Party did better than predicted by most polls, taking 32 per cent of the British vote. “The Brexit Party has become the biggest single individual party in the European Parliament,” the British newspaper Express confirmed.

UK’s Daily Telegraph reported the British results:

The Brexit Party has won nine of the 10 regions to declare its results in the European elections, claiming 28 of 64 seats in the European Parliament.

Nigel Farage’s party came top in the North East, North West, East of England, Wales, West Midlands, East Midlands, Yorkshire & Humber, the South West and South East.

This came largely at the expense of the Conservative Party. Theresa May’s party have lost a huge share of the vote across all regions, so far losing 15 MEP seats to a total of three.

Le Pen’s National Rally (NR) finished ahead of President Emmanuel Macron’s pro-EU en Marche party. The French nationlists won around 23 percent of the vote, ahead of Macron’s party at around 22 percent. The once powerful Socialist party was totally crushed, coming in the fifth place with almost 6 percent of the vote.

The outcome came as a blow to President Macron, who had been trying to position himself as the true leader of the EU as Germany’s Chancellor Angela Merkel departs from the political scene.

The TV network France24 reported the French results:

French far-right leader Marine Le Pen came out on top in France’s European Elections with 23.2 percent of the vote, in a blow for French President Emmanuel Macron, who had personally waded into the campaign.

“Vote against Macron,” the far-right National Rally’s (NR) tracts said. The results of Sunday’s vote suggest a quarter of French voters listened.

Marine Le Pen’s NR won 23.3% of the vote, Macron’s centrist La République en Marche (the Republic on the Move) came in second place with 22.1%, and there was a surprise surge for the Green Party, Europe Écologie Les Verts, who scored 13.1%.

The centre-right Les Républicains won 8.4% — their worst ever showing in an election — and the French Socialists languished in fifth place at 6.6 %.

In Italy, Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini and his governing League party triumphed over their political rivals, doubling the vote compared to the 2018 national elections, while their left-wing coalition partner, the Five Star Movement (M5S), lost half of its voters.

“I am counting on having allies everywhere to save the EU,” Salvini declared last night. “We finally have to change after decades of bureaucrats and bankers’ rules.”

The European new website Euractiv covered the outcome of the vote in Italy:

After just one year in government, the balance of power between Italy’s two ruling parties has been turned around: Lega doubled its score from last year’s 17.35% to 33.6%, while the Five Star Movement crumbled from 32.68% to 16.70%.

“People have given us the mission to put the rights to work and to healthcare at the heart of the European debate,” Lega’s leader Matteo Salvini told the press around 1:00 am, in what was the first comment by an Italian politician after the EU election results were announced.

In the distant contest opposing him to the anti-system Five Star Movement, the far-right Interior minister came out as the indisputable winner, as voters rewarded his hardline economic and migration policies.

Mainstream establishment parties were the biggest losers of the night — including Chancellor Merkel’s Christian conservatives, President Macron’s centrist party and Prime Minister May’s British conservatives, while the left-wing and environmentalist green parties also made huge electoral gains.

With Sunday’s results, the number of anti-EU members will hit a record high in the EU parliament. Salvini’s bloc alone may control atleast 150 seats in the new 751-seat house. With backing from the UK’s Brexit party, as well as the Polish and Hungrian conservatives, the anti-EU forces may get at least one-thirds of strength in the house, enough to block EU’s unpopular policies. Orban’s Fidesz party may also join Salvini’s EAPN alliance in the new parliament, some European media reports indicate.

will be interesting to watch in the coming months

It’s about time Europeans woke up and decided to save their countries and their culture from globalists who want to take away their freedom.

I am sure we will be now suffer an avalanche of complicated, intellectual, political rationalizations about what is going on but it boils down to one simple issue: people are proud of who they are! Americans want to be Americans. Brit want to be Brits. French want to be French. What exactly is global citizenship? Does everyone get a trophy for participating?

Since we weren’t invited to participate in those top-secret, high-security discussions at Devos where the Masters of the Universe mapped out their utopian takeover of the world, we can only assume that it can’t be good. And to do this as they roll out their globalized surveillance economic system to make everything “free”? Are we really that stupid?

What kind of people would believe it would be a good idea to command the world’s population of individuals to forget everything they believe in and are proud of? When did self-loathing become a virtue? Sound like selling cancer to me. No thanks.

I don’t know what’s behind door #1, #2 or #3 Alex, but it can’t be good. I’ll pass.

Spot-on analysis. There is nothing wrong with being proud of who you are….amirite, LGBTQ community?

Terence G. Gain in reply to Pasadena Phil. | May 27, 2019 at 9:04 am

I upvoted you Phil, but I think you asked the wrong question in an otherwise good comment. The question should be, are the Globalists that stupid. How, in the long term will they benefit from Islamizing Europe? Surely that will bring less freedom, less economic productivity and less wealth. So how do even THEY benefit. I don’t understand the push for globalization. Muslims benefit, but who else benefits from the expansion of a totalitarian and indolent ideology? Is globalism fueled by petrodollars? There doesn’t appear to me to be any other explanation for it. Or is it merely that Political Correctness is a mental disorder which attacks the “highly educated” and well off more violently than it does the hoi polloi?

I have 2 University degrees. Do I need another one in order to understand why the educated and wealthy elite are so hell bound to commit suicide?

The elites believe they are smarter than us and believe we should be controlled. Most (Juncker, Merkel. Macron, Francis the Marxist, etc.) are childless and have no concern about the future after they are dead.

I guess I should have rephrased “Are we really that stupid?” into “Do they really think we are that stupid?”. That is what I was trying to say.

As to globalism, there is no ideological purity to be found. Most major religions continue to aspire to global dominance. It is the stated goal for communism because their inefficient economic ideas work without it imposing them.

This new crowd believes they can accomplish this with technological enslavement. I’m sure that most of them believe they are being altruistic because we are too dumb to know what is best for us. “The Matrix” made real.

I learned in my studies in college that all societies are democracies at some level. Tyranny is an illusion that cannot survive because eventually, the elite isolate themselves and so become vulnerable. Their arms give out as they try to “hold back the wolf”. That is why it is so important for rulers to validate their power by the consent of the governed.

The question now is whether they are even thinking that way. If Hillary/Barrack/Mitt/etal are any indication, they really don’t care. They just want the power. So we are probably heading for a bloody period of history…. again. That is why I keep calling for a Nuremberg-type international trial for those involved in the attempted coup of the Trump administration. It is so much more than Hillary. It involves a cabal of foreign nations who conspired with an army of American traitors populating our government.

How do they benefit? Power and control. Whatever the economic wreckage, they would control it. Wealth and money are fleeting concepts. In the end, those in power get what they want. We just have to make sure they understand that dictatorships never accomplish their utopian dreams. The inevitable need to coerce the multitudes leads to violence and here we go again.

      > How, in the long term will they benefit from Islamizing Europe?

Terence, my working theory is that leftists primarily think short term because they are driven more by emotions than intellect and commonsense. More than anything, they are concerned with receiving immediate approval from their fellow leftists to make them feel accepted and good about themselves. Hence, their constant virtual-signaling, which seems to be rooted in immaturity.

Leftists generally remind me of a bunch of third graders vying with each other for power, approval, attention, etc.

Unfortunately, like many real third graders, they have little ability to ‘step out of themselves’ to gauge how their thoughts and actions actually intersect with reality. Some third graders eventually mature so they can self-assess, but some never do because either they literally don’t have the ability to or they are afraid to.

The left seems to be a self-defensive cult of the permanently immature.

Terence G. Gain in reply to Snail. | May 27, 2019 at 1:28 pm

        Snail

I agree with you about the average leftists. Having abandoned religion, they are in need of signalling their virtue. But this doesn’t explain why the Globalist Elites have aligned with Islam. Do they know nothing about Islamic ideology and history? The Globalists will be easily put down once the Muslims take control and no longer need them. Islam’s goal is to rule the world and Muslims are resolute.

bw222 in reply to Pasadena Phil. | May 27, 2019 at 9:24 am

I’m sure “racism” will be part of the media narrative, The only people considered racist for voting their self-interest are white Christians.

Mike H. in reply to Pasadena Phil. | May 28, 2019 at 12:52 am

    “What exactly is global citizenship?”
It’s a system where the biggest victim comes out on top.

    Following up, this isn’t encouraging:

    https://www.thelocal.ch/20190528/secretive-bilderberg-meeting-to-be-held-in-switzerland-from-may-30th-reports

Institutionalizing globalized surveillance “capitalism”. The battle is far from won. The question is whether we can hold on to our freedoms with everyone addicted to the “smart” phones and obsessed with being entertained 24/7/365.

BTW, it seems to me that the EU elections mostly represent a change of seating rather than a change of direction. Yes, it is significant that the nationalists came out of nowhere to become a dominant force. But the left-wing globalists won too. The “Greens” dominated too. Maybe all we are seeing is a clearing out of the lame, squishy middle?

We don’t have coalition parties here in the US. All coalitions have to be formed under one of two roofs, both of which formed a globalist establishment that was rejected when we elected Trump. There are plenty of roofs to hide under in Europe. The only dynamic I see in play is that nationalists have seized the momentum and forced the globalists to reorganize.

Tom Servo in reply to Pasadena Phil. | May 27, 2019 at 9:02 am

Yes, it is significant that the nationalists came out of nowhere to become a dominant force. But the left-wing globalists won too.”

    Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
    The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
    Are full of passionate intensity.

Terence G. Gain in reply to Pasadena Phil. | May 27, 2019 at 9:08 am

I disagree. The nationalists have rejected the suicide of their culture. I am at a loss to understand what took them so long.

The same thing that took us so long. There was no way to vote your convictions. Now there is. And we have ignited the power of populism. We know they are desperate because they have given up trying to persuade us with argument. They won’t even have discussions with us opting instead to marginalize us with ugly and false labels. They are painting themselves into a corner where violence will be their only option. We are already seeing it here. BLM and their ilk are just a practice run.

True, but according to our self-anointed moral and intellectual betters this wasn’t supposed to happen. Europe was supposed to be EUtopia, a secular, socialist paradise where the militant atheist, the Muslim with several burka-clad wives, and the GLBT mafia were going to live together in perfect harmony, and the hated Jews and Christians were to disappear (liquidated if necessary).

The days and weeks to come will be interesting. I suspect there is a Deep State in Europe that will seek to neuter or even oust the non-communist parties (the Greens perfectly represent the genocidal fantasies of the EUtopians, and will probably be left alone). The proles must be punished for defying their betters!

That’s what happens when you form a coalition by promising everything to everyone. Once power is seized, the purges begin. The Red “communists” immediately purged the White communists (those who actually believed in communism) after the revolution in 1918.

Eventually, this new one-world leadership would have to purge its ranks. That’s a lot of billionaires warring against each other with global tools and bottomless bank accounts. We would not even appear on their maps. If you think we are not in the conversation now, wait and see if that changes for the better were these power-hungry egomaniacs to go to war against each other for dominance. They need to be stopped NOW.

Gee, could we be seeing signs of a cultural revolution of some kind? Nah.

It’s ironic that the EU election took place on Memorial Day weekend. 75 years ago Americans fought and died to free Europeans. Now Europeans finally appear willing to fight for their freedom.

Terence G. Gain | May 27, 2019 at 9:44 am

” I learned in my studies in college that all societies are democracies at some level.”

Then you were miseducated. Islamic societies are totalitarian. The population is trained not to think.

You missed my point completely. ALL societies that humans contrive are democratic at the most fundamental level. All men at all times have been free to do whatever they want…. if they are willing to accept the consequences. ALL societies exist at the tolerance of the masses. Just make it worth it for the masses to abandon all fear and come after you.

Control by the very few over the many has its limits. The Mayans completely disappeared in one generation when the masses walked(?) away. That has happened repeatedly throughout human history. We just live in complacent times when we foolishly believe there are no consequences to war, endless debt, institutionalized murder, corruption,… We ALL need to wake up and smell the coffee. Civilization can end as soon as grocery stores running out of food. We are always two days from the end of civilization.

How motivated will you be two days from now if there is no food? We have seen glimpses into that every time there is a major hurricane or earthquake disaster. The so-called zombie invasion. Reality may suck but it is not optional.

JusticeDelivered in reply to Pasadena Phil. | May 27, 2019 at 4:22 pm

The reason that Muslims were stagnate, that they failed to evolve, is that they systematically murdered anyone who would bring any change. They are still the same.

What has changed is that there are fools who accept Muslim lies.

What Churchill had to say about Muslims is as true today as when he wrote his opinions.

inspectorudy | May 27, 2019 at 10:30 am

The latest anti-Semitic insult was heard in Germany when one of its ministers told Jews to not wear their skull caps in public. This is because of the muslim slime that has invaded Germany. If the krauts don’t come to their senses soon it will be too late. From the looks of the other EU vote outcomes, taking back their countries from the globalists is underway. Never has a societal change happened so quickly than this last one in Europe with the invasion by mostly uneducated muslims who cling to their murderous religion stronger than most. Some from Africa are almost from another world where their sharia law is the one and only law that they abide by. These people are the ones that it is impossible to live with in a normal society.

    bw222 in reply to inspectorudy. | May 27, 2019 at 10:42 am

Germany was one of the countries where nationalists didn’t make major gains. The Green Party was the big winner. Germany may be beyond saving.

The Friendly Grizzly in reply to inspectorudy. | May 28, 2019 at 7:07 am

Muslims didn’t invade Germany. They were brought in as menial labor. The Master Race needed someone to scrub their floors, prepare their vegetables, collect their garbage, and clean their toilets. In short, jobs that were beneath them.

    Sound familiar?

Terence G. Gain | May 27, 2019 at 10:40 am

” ALL societies that humans contrive are democratic at the most fundamental level.”

I missed nothing. Most societies are in fact totalitarian.

You have been miseducated. Where in the Muslim world are people free? Submission is the rule, not the exception. Freedom and democracy are in short supply in today’s world, which is becoming more totalitarian with each passing day as Islam and socialism spread.

The United States dodged a bullet in 2016. Just barely.

You again missed my point completely so I can assume that it is you who is “miseducated”. My point is a very conventional philosophical point.

Before you reply again, stop and think. What is it exactly that you don’t understand? Is it too deep for you? Abigail Adams once said “Remember, all men would be tyrants if they could”. But they can’t. Why do you think that is? Maybe the oppressed have a limit of tolerance? Maybe that is when they re-impose their God-given freedoms by being willing to risk everything to fight for them? We are ALWAYS free to do that. It’s the consequences we keep weighing. That was the whole point of Jefferson arguing that spilling a little blood refreshes liberty? Maybe that is what Franklin was alluding to when he said we have a republic…. if we can hold onto it? Get it?

So wouldn’t you agree that I get your point? Now try to find your way to understanding mine.

Terence G. Gain in reply to Pasadena Phil. | May 27, 2019 at 1:45 pm

      PP

There is no need to insult me. Your point is not complicated. It is simply wrong.

Most people follow the path of least resistance. There are very few Thomas Paine’s in this world and very few democracies.

      Your statement that:

” ALL societies that humans contrive are democratic at the most fundamental level.”

      is complete nonsense.

Most societies are totalitarian. Democracies are the exception.

If I understand your point (and Phil’s), I think you’re both right to a degree. His point is that the populace can, if provoked sufficiently, rise up and overthrow despots, which of course is true in most cases. His assumption that that is democratic is flawed, because in the vast majority of cases, the result is simply another despot. “Democracies” (i.e. mob rule) simply don’t exist in populations over a handful of people, and unique republics have been so rare as to be countable on one hand until after WWII. The major flaw is that while all men are created equal, they don’t grow up that way. Some are power hungry and most are not and it seems to be that subsequent to their establishment, republican governments by their nature attract power seeking people to their ranks, who naturally spend their existence consolidating power away from their political rivals AND the people, resulting eventually in one party rule that ignores the will of the citizens and the effective end of the republic. I’m a pessimist by nature, so I see us (and most other republican governments) on the bitter verge of that one party government, as soon as the Democrats can naturalize enough immigrants.

I’m sorry if I insulted you. I should have just dropped it.

Apparently you still don’t get my point. I have no idea how that link relates to what I said.

Terence G. Gain in reply to Pasadena Phil. | May 28, 2019 at 4:41 am

          Therein lies the problem.

healthguyfsu in reply to Pasadena Phil. | May 28, 2019 at 11:07 am

tx is right…neither of you are wrong because neither of you are absolutely right.

One of you is arguing a red delicious apple a day keeps the doctor away, and the other is arguing that it’s a granny smith.

          There are no absolutes.

-People will break the law if they judge it as their best recourse. (pp’s point)

-Conservatives hate big government and will give it a label that is demonizing to avoid having as little resistance to their individual choices as possible (gain’s point)

Those aren’t your exact words but that’s what it boils down to. Both points can be true.

Perhaps I have misread the M5S party in Italy, but I did not think they were “Left Wing”. Populist, yes, with some left positions like belief in “global warming” crisis, but some right ones too, especially with regard to the immigrant invasion of their country.

Marine Le Pen apparently has 3 children. This is a refreshing change from recent European leaders who are childless.

    bw222 in reply to rdmdawg. | May 27, 2019 at 12:06 pm

The nationalists (Italy, France, Poland, Hungary, etc.) all have children. The elitists: Juncker, Macron, Merkel, Francis the Marxist, etc.) are all childless. They don’t worry about a Muslim Europe in 50 years or less.

    bw222 in reply to rdmdawg. | May 27, 2019 at 12:18 pm

Nigel Farage has 4 children, Marine LePen 3, Matteo Salvini 2, Viktor Orbán (Hungary) 5, Mateusz Morawiecki (Poland) 4.

Do not be so sure that there is a victory for nations here. Remember, for all totalitarians; be they EU supporters, Democrat-Socialists, or Muslims the outcome of elections are only valid as long as they help them seize power. I believe Erdogan said that you only take the election train until you reach your station.

The EU has no compunction about using compulsion to achieve their ends. Or just make everybody keep voting again and again until they either will or can fake that they won.

Subotai Bahadur

All of those “Right Wing” Parties in Europe are actually mainstream, Centrist, Parties.

Why doesn’t anyone ever label the Left Wing, and Radical Left Wing, Parties as what they really are?

Stop letting the liberal legacy press dictate the terms of conversation.

Migration is the unarmed “droid army” of the globalists. American conservatives can still win any election they wish, including by popular vote, if they will just vote enmasse…

Good to see the worm turning in Europe. I just hope it’s not too late.
