This year, during Housing Action’s annual membership meeting, we will focus on the significant affordable housing victories secured in the recent state legislative session. State Representatives Will Guzzardi and Delia Ramirez and State Senators Ann Gillespie and Mattie Hunter will join us for a virtual roundtable discussion on the progress we’ve made and potential future priorities. Landmark accomplishments during the 2021 General Assembly session include the passage of affordable housing omnibus legislation, which establishes property tax incentives and other resources to preserve and create affordable rental housing, and the COVID-19 Emergency Housing Act, which secured critical protections for renters and homeowners impacted by the pandemic while also setting up a strong framework for distributing federal emergency rental assistance resources. Illinois legislators also committed significant federal funding from the American Rescue Plan—more than $114 million—toward urgent housing needs.
Organizational members of Housing Action Illinois will also vote for Board members to guide our coalition. Everyone is welcome to join us, whether or not you or your organization are official Housing Action members.
Note: Housing Action Illinois usually hosts our annual member meeting as part of our in-person conference, but this year, we’re holding them separately and virtually. We hope you’ll also join us for our 2021 Housing Matters Conference on October 4 - 8.
Thank you for your interest in staying in touch.
