Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin is headed to Michigan to campaign for Republican gubernatorial candidate Tudor Dixon.

7News learned Tuesday morning that Youngkin will visit Michigan to campaign for Dixon who was recently nominated by the Michigan Republican Party to face off against Michigan Democratic Governor Gretchen Whitmer in the November election.

Youngkin will headline the Michigan Republican Party state convention in support of the Republican ticket.

"What we’re seeing in Michigan is similar to what we saw in Virginia last summer - voters coming together demanding better education, safer communities, and manageable cost of living for their families. I’m excited to campaign with Tudor Dixon later this month and look forward to bringing the Virginia spirit to Michigan!" Youngkin said about the Michigan race.

The convention will take place in Lansing on Aug. 27.

Some have speculated if Youngkin is visiting different states in support of Republican candidates in a possible effort to position himself as a presidential candidate.

Earlier this year Youngkin visited Nebraska to support the Republican candidate for governor.

“Similar to Virginia last year, Michiganders are tired of high cost of living and an education system that falls short of students’ potential. Governor Youngkin is looking forward to joining Tudor Dixon and her campaign to empower parents and make Michigan a great place to live, work, and raise a family," a Youngkin senior advisor told 7News.
