Membership Benefits

Maryland Civic Education Coalition members collaborate frequently to support best practices in civic education and engagement and support high-quality service learning for young people across Maryland. Our Government Relations Working Group monitors the work of state policy-makers and keeps members up to date on the latest proposals.

Members are able to network with and learn from other coalition partners from across the state as well as connect with national partners working on civic education issues across the country. The coalition provides regular opportunities for members to promote their work, access new resources, and get recognized through our awards program.

Interested in joining the Coalition?

The Maryland Civic Education Coalition is committed to building an inclusive coalition that brings together students, educators, experts, and activists who are committed to ensuring that all Maryland students have access to meaningful, hands-on, comprehensive civic education and service-learning opportunities.

If you live or work in Maryland and share that mission, please complete this brief membership application.  We will contact you shortly by phone or email.  If you prefer, send an email membership@mdcivics.org with the subject line “new member inquiry” and we’ll be in touch to set up a call!

If you do not live or work in Maryland, we welcome you to attend meetings and join our working groups as a friend of the Coalition! Please sign up for our newsletter below to receive invitations to our open meetings.

Once accepted, all new members are welcome to attend the coalition’s monthly New Member Orientation which is hosted the last Wednesday of each month at 4 pm on Zoom. The Zoom link and further information regarding the orientation will be sent out in your new member welcome email.

Students are welcome, too!

Whether you are enrolled in a public school, a private school, or you are homeschooled, if you are eager to make the world a better place, you are welcome in the Coalition! All students are invited to join the MDCEC Youth Advisory Council, which meets monthly. If you are under the age of 18, this form is for you!
