eBulletin #9 – Virtual Benefit 2020 Highlights!

We did it!

We successfully hosted our first-ever Virtual Benefit and raised over $131,000!!

Our plans had to change quickly: we couldn’t host our annual spring fundraiser because of the pandemic and we missed seeing all of you.  Thank you for waiting until October 28th to celebrate with us and for supporting us from the comfort of your home. After months of planning and learning how to create a virtual event, we were able to celebrate our honorees and have some fun together.  The evening was a success thanks to the participation and generosity of our many supporters. Here are some of the ways the funds raised will help us improve lives for young people in Westchester. Some examples are:

  •  Project 2020WCA brought together nearly 100 youth leaders from all over the county to amplify their voices and empower them to become civically engaged voters of the future.
  •  Raise the Age / Youth JusticeWCA estimates that every $1 we invest into advocating for Raise The Age yields $4.66 in returns across Westchester County and we are happy to see a 43% decline in juvenile arrests and increased use of age-appropriate, rehabilitative services for justice-involved youth.  We are helping to break the school-to-prison pipeline and bring awareness to unfair school discipline practices.
  •  Child and Youth Homelessness – Our workgroup of partners continues to push to broaden the definition of homelessness to address needs for prevention and support for families.  We recently collaborated with the Mount Vernon city and school district to address homelessness among children and families.

Covid hasn’t slowed us down for a minute!

Thank you for being with us every step of the way.
