March 2022 Alexandria Hub Updates
Attend the March 1, 7pm, City Climate Plan Public Meeting (online)
7:00pm, Tuesday, March 1, is the second public workshop meeting for the City’s Energy and Climate Change Action Plan. This meeting will focus on climate resilience and provides an opportunity for your input on issues like protecting the most vulnerable residents and workers in Alexandria. Register to attend.
Climate Priorities in the Draft City Budget
The FACS Alexandria hub advocacy has helped get stronger climate programs in the Manager’s draft budget. The February budget proposal included additional funding for the Energy and Climate Change Action Plan and a budget option that would fund several important energy programs. As of the end of February, our group has met one-on-one with most Council members and the Mayor. We will continue to be engaged to push for strong climate and energy equity initiatives supported by FACS ALX to be in the final budget.
You can submit your own comment supporting inclusion of the Manager’s proposed new residential and commercial energy efficiency programs, efforts targeted to help low-and-moderate income Alexandrians, and making public electric vehicle charging more accessible, into the final budget. More info on the City budget process is available on its website here.
