Washoe County will begin counting ballots for the 2020 election today, said Washoe County Registrar of Voters Deanna Spikula.

Starting at 1 p.m., viewers can watch the ballots being counted live on the Washoe County, Nevada Youtube page. The stream will end at 5 p.m.

The county will stream ballot counting from Tuesday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The livestream on Tuesday will resume after the end of the Washoe County Board of County Commissioners' meeting, which begins at 10:00 a.m.

Early voting began on October 17. As of Oct. 24, over 137,000 voters in Washoe County have turned in their ballots. Of those, over 82,000 were mail-in ballots, according to the Washoe County Registrar of Voters office.

Although ballot counting has begun, initial results won't be reported until all in-person polling places close on Election Day.

But it will take nearly two weeks before the final results are actually certified. Although mail-in ballots must be postmarked by Nov. 3, voters have until Nov. 12 to "cure" any problems with their mail-in ballot.

Once all absentee and mail-in ballots are counted, the registrar will begin processing provisional ballots. Spikula said final results will be certified on Nov. 16.
