Kroger opens first drive-thru and walk-up test site in Greater Cincinnati Wednesday
Kroger Health is opening its first drive-thru and walk-up testing site in Greater Cincinnati on Wednesday,The testing site will be open Wednesday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Hirsch Recreation Center at 3630 Reading Road. Those who want to get tested can register at krogerhealth.com/covidtesting. Those who need a test will use a virtual screening tool based on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines to see if they are eligible. People eligible will then select the appropriate testing location and appointment time and receive an email confirmation with pre-appointment paperwork. Health officials said when the patient arrives for a test, they should have a photo ID ready and leave their windows rolled up for check-in. A health care practitioner will approach the car and let the patient know when to roll down their window.The drive-thru testing location has a self-administered nasal swab that must be ordered and observed by a provider. Kroger says this method increases the number of tests that can be provided while conserving personal protective equipment.Test results are expected within approximately 48 hours. Kroger Health is expected to administer 250 tests per day.The test site was created through a partnership with the city, the Cincinnati Recreation Commission, the Center for Closing the Health Gap, council members Jan-Michele Kearney, P.G. Sittenfeld, Wendell Young, the Urban League of Greater Cincinnati, the African American Chamber of Commerce, the Cincinnati NAACP and and the founding partners of COVID19communityresources.com.
