About NCSE

NCSE works with teachers, parents, scientists, and concerned citizens at the local, state, and national levels to ensure that topics including evolution and climate change are taught accurately, honestly, and confidently.

Mission Statement: The National Center for Science Education promotes and defends accurate and effective science education because everyone deserves to engage with the evidence.

Vision Statement: One day, students of all ages will be scientifically literate, teachers will be prepared and empowered to teach accurate science, and scientific thinking and decision-making will ensure that all life can thrive and overcome challenges to our shared future.

Science is not an atheist movement, science is not a conspiracy, science is not the enemy. Science is simply an understanding of the world we share.”Amanda L. Townley
Executive Director, NCSE

Misconceptions can give students the false confidence that they understand a phenomenon when their understanding is actually faulty. In the worst case, it can stop people from acknowledging facts.
