Be a Big

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Mass and Metrowest serves children and young adults who want and need a mentor in their lives. BBBS matches Littles between the ages of 8-16 with Bigs in a one-to-one, life-changing friendship. Bigs and Littles meet on average two times a month for a few hours enjoying normal, everyday activities, like going to see a movie, playing games, going out to eat, or just hanging out!

Each match is supported by a dedicated Match Support & Success Team Member who is always there to provide resources and support specific to the Little’s age. With a Big in their life, children and young adults in the program are empowered to ignite their potential as they grow in their self-esteem and develop a lifelong friendship with their Big.

APPLY (COMMUNITY) Be matched with a Little from the community we serve. Littles are matched between the ages of 8-16. Once matched, you’ll enjoy fun activities together, spending a couple hours together, every couple of weeks. Applications for Big Futures are also processed through this link.
APPLY (SITE-BASED) This application is for interested Bigs who are part of a college or corporate program. You’ll meet with your Little for about an hour each week during the school year, often at their school or after-school program.

Little, Aidan and Big, Griffin

Griffin is a Big through our mentoring program with Holy Cross. He plays on the football team and as a team they volunteer their time as Bigs when they're off the field. Griffin was matched with Aidan who is in his first year at Bay Path Vocational Technical High School! Aidan plans to study automotives and we know he'll do amazing!

Slide 2

Little, Sofia and Big, Erika

Sofia and Erika are one of our newest dynamic pairs! These two wonderful individuals were brought together through our Corporate-Site mentoring program with TJX Companies. Each week brings a new adventure for them. Erika recalls a favorite being the question jar activity where they took turns pulling out a question that they each answered. She said it sparked conversation and helped them get to know each other. Sofia especially enjoyed playing a round of Family Feud and the Simon Says memory game.

Slide 3

Little, Shanelle and Big, Carly

Shanelle and Carly first met back in March 2022. Shanelle attends Girls Inc. of Worcester after school and Carly is a college student and athlete at the College of the Holy Cross. During their meetings, they typically work on homework followed by some competitive board games: of which Monopoly is by far Shanelle’s favorite. They weren't able to get together over summer vacation, but once they did Shanelle and Carly picked back up again as if nothing had ever changed. Hats off to an exemplary mentor-mentee connection and the two awesome young women who make it happen!

Slide 4

Little, Yariel and Big, Paul

Yariel and Paul have been matched for over 10 years! Yariel has a positive outlook on life that radiates to those around him, and his creative spirit will get him far in life. Yariel manages life as a full-time student, class president, young employee, and member of the Innovative Pathways Program with grace and optimism. Yariel focuses on his future when balancing all his roles and leads them all with kindness. Paul has been a great mentor to Yariel over the last 10 years and we’re sure their relationship will continue on for years to come.

See for yourself the impact that another caring adult can have on a child by meeting some of our matches. And don't be surprised if you discover that the volunteers are often impacted as much, if not more, than the youth!
