How Should Cook County Spend Its $1 Billion American Rescue Plan Act Dollars?

October 12, 2021 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm

Free

In March 2021, President Biden signed the $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (ARPA), an ambitious initiative to stimulate the US economy, support residents, and reduce the spread of the COVID-19 virus. Cook County will receive over $1 billion from the federal government through ARPA and is in the process of developing a responsible, comprehensive, and equitable spending plan to strategically use these one-time resources to support both immediate recovery needs and long-term transformative initiatives. To ensure the best possible outcome for all, Cook County is seeking community input to guide its ARPA spending plan.

The County is partnering with Forefront to offer three listening sessions to hear directly nonprofit organizations and foundations that are based in or serve Cook County. Sandra Lewis, Director of External Affairs, Office of the President of the Cook County Board will be on hand to answer any questions you might have.

If your organization is located in West or South Suburban Cook County and you would like to host your own virtual or in-person listening session with your clients or community residents, please reach out to project consultant Consuella Brown at brownconsuella@yahoo.com to a schedule a time to hold an event.

Additional listening sessions will be held on September 28, 2021 at 10am, and October 5, 2021 at 2pm.
