Hungry People Can’t Wait. Tell Congress: #BoostSNAPNow to Fill Empty Plates. 

National Day of Action: Monday, August 10 

On August 10, join FRAC, leading national anti-hunger partners, and others around the country in a day of action to tell Congress not to go home until a COVID-19 relief package is passed that boosts SNAP benefits to put food on empty plates and stimulate the economy.

Create a Virtual Paper Plate

Send your message to Congress on a virtual paper plate that shows why the SNAP boost is so critical to people in your state. Urge Congress not to leave D.C. until the boost is included in the final COVID-19 deal. Check out FRAC’s sample plates for ideas and also this virtual paper plate tool from Feeding America.

1. Post a picture of your plate on Twitter with #BoostSNAPNow. Be sure your message reaches your Members of Congress by tagging them — find their handles here.

2. Email a picture of your plate along with your strong message on the need to boost SNAP to your Members of Congress. You can email them by using this resource.

It is critical for Members of Congress to weigh in with House and Senate leadership who are embroiled in daily negotiations (on what could be the last major COVID-19 package until after the elections), with the following message: 

The final COVID-19 relief package must:

• boost SNAP maximum benefits by 15 percent, which would help all SNAP households;
• increase the minimum monthly SNAP benefit from $16 to $30; and
• suspend SNAP time limits or administrative rule changes that would cut benefits.

Remember, each $1 in SNAP Benefits in a downturn generates between $1.50 to $1.80 in economic activity.
