Event Date: Wednesday, March 17, 2021 from 7:00-8:00pm (Mountain Time)
Join us for an inspiring evening with Jake Norton, a long-time supporter of Friendship Bridge and a renowned Everest Mountaineer, UN Ambassador, Photographer, Filmmaker, and Author. In a powerful keynote presentation, Jake will share virtually on Zoom stories from his 3 Everest summits and illustrate how he, like our clients, utilizes the fundamental qualities of instinct, teamwork, vision, risks, and tenacity, to reach his goals.
About Jake Norton
Climber, filmmaker, photographer, and activist, Jake Norton, has spent most of his life in the high mountains and remote regions of the world. From helping discover George Mallory’s remains on Mount Everest to following the footsteps of Sir Ernest Shackleton across South Georgia Island, unearthing 3500-year-old human remains in cliffside caves high in the Himalaya to following the Ganges River 1600 miles from source to sea, to reaching the summit of Everest 3 times, Jake has been blessed in his 47 years to traverse the globe and share his stories far and wide. Jake has been a Friendship Bridge champion for many years, supporting our mission to empower Guatemalan women to build a better life. He resides in Evergreen, Colorado, with his wife and two children.
“I’ve never been one for strict definitions when it comes to life. For me, life has always been much like a mountain: there’s a distant end in sight, always looming far overhead and pushing us onward and upward. But, there are myriad valleys and ridges, winding trails, and unknown passes to get us there. And, sometimes the closer we get, the more we realize that distant summit was but a false one, and the real goal lies somewhere else, waiting to be discovered.” - Jake Norton
