Join us for an exciting afternoon of music and celebration at the Charlotte Pride Band's spring concert on May 13, 2023, at 4pm in Park Road Church, 3900 Park Rd in Charlotte.
ADMISSION IS FREE.

We are thrilled to feature Dr. Marisa Youngs on trumpet, an accomplished musician and educator with an impressive performance history. In addition, we will be showcasing the talent of our Youth Soloist Competition winner, Alexander Bielicki, who will amaze you with his musical abilities. This promises to be an unforgettable evening of inspiring music and community spirit.

The Charlotte Pride Band is proudly led by the incredible vision of our Artistic Director, Dr. John Ross and our Assistant Artistic Director, O'Shea Best. Charlotte Pride Bands is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting LGBTQ+ visibility and equality through the power of music. The future of health in America should reflect ALL OF US. Plus, your DNA can tell you about your genetic ancestors! Taking part is free and confidential. The program also features interactive activities, videos, games, quizzes, and more! The Freedom Center will also be hosting RAIN for free HIV testing during these times.

The Hispanic Federation will also be filing applications for a Food and Farmworker Relief program. The program is a one-time payment of $600 for farmworkers from the US Department of Agriculture, regardless of legal status. To be eligible, you must be a farmworker who worked anytime between January 27, 2020, until the end of the Covid-19 pandemic, and present an identification, such as a work ID, and proof of employment. You will also be able to register to vote. Come out an join us!

2022 MLK Wreath Laying Ceremony

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. March and Wreath-laying Memorial Event

Each year, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Community Relations Committee (CRC) leads a community-wide celebration of the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. (MLK). The MLK National Holiday Celebration is also an opportunity to recognize those who are committed to carrying his legacy from generation to generation. In the spirit of diversity, inclusion, understanding and service to one another, the MLK Celebration planning committee is seeking to expand its reach and participation by coordinating a March that will lead into the 30-minute wreath-laying memorial ceremony.

Event details and coordination team expectations are outlined below.

  • March Registration Fee $25.00

  • Sunday January 15, 2023

  • March line-up begins at 2:00 p.m. at the intersection of Tryon and Phifer Streets

  • Step off will begin promptly at 2:30 p.m.

  • The route goes down Tryon Street, making a left on 3rd Street and ending at Marshall Park

  • The wreath-laying memorial will begin promptly at 3 p.m. and ends at 3:30 p.m.

The March will Not have:

  • Vehicles

  • No Floats

  • No Motorcycles

  • No Cars

  • No Trucks

  • No Horses

Come out for a wild, fun, outrageous and unpredictable evening of laughs, crazy costumes, dance routines, wacky entertainment, great music and a little bingo. Each bingo year has its own theme and set of special games/rules - this is not a game of chance and no money or prizes can be won from getting an official bingo.

Gay Bingo Charlotte has raised over $1.5 million to support the HIV services and programs RAIN provides to the Charlotte metro area.
