The meeting was one of 11 being held by Virginia Organizing members between Dec. 1 and Dec. 6.

Martinsville member and retired nurse Linda Brim said that she and her fellow members in Martinsville hope to speak to the state-elected delegates and senators from Southside soon.

"We voted to put them in office. They promised to do things to help us, so we're looking for them to do it and we're hoping to hold them accountable," Brim emphasized.

As of Friday, a meeting was scheduled to take place in Christiansburg on Dec. 6.
