Hiking, bicycling, and horseback riding are all incredible ways to take in the beauty and tranquility of our nature preserves. As you explore our 47 miles of trails, be sure to plan ahead to ensure a safe and fun experience for you and your fellow visitors. Take a look below to help you avoid some common mistakes.

Be Bear Aware!

In recent years, black bears have become increasingly common in Connecticut. Check out our Be Bear Aware flyer to learn how to avoid encounters with black bears.

Ticks

Ticks are abundant within the preserves and may carry dangerous pathogens. To avoid exposure, stay on-trail, leash your dog, and check your clothing often. Check out our Tick flyer for more helpful tips.
