After defeats in 2019, a group of Texas lawmakers is teaming up to push criminal justice reform

The new Criminal Justice Reform Caucus in the Texas House will set its sights on changes in 2021.

State Rep. Joe Moody, D-El Paso, testifies on his bill that would let those serving a life sentence for crimes committed under the age of 18 become eligible for parole after 20 years rather than 40. Advocates have called this the "second look" bill, but numerous families of victims of the Santa Fe shooting testified against the bill. March 13, 2019.
