Mamadee is a Muslim Immigrant from West Africa. He has lived in Philadelphia since he was six years old. His parents, brother, three sisters, partner, and daughter are all U.S. citizens. Mamadee has not been back to West Africa since his family emigrated; Philadelphia is the only home he has ever known. As a teenager, Mamadee developed a passion for hip-hop and music production. He is engaged to his high school sweetheart and is father to an energetic and fun-loving three-year old daughter. Since his detention, his parents, siblings, daughter, and partner wait for him at home with open arms.

Mamadee has been detained by ICE since May 2020. He was transferred from York County Prison to ย Stewart Detention Center in Lumpkin, Georgia, a thousand miles from his family and lawyer in Philadelphia. His continued detention is unnecessary, inhumane, and serves no purpose. Due to his detention, he has been unable to meet his 3-year old daughter, Tena, forcing her mother to raise her as a single parent. Mamadee has only seen his daughter through a video screen and heard her voice over a phone call.
