The E-Bikes for Everyone program is currently closed

Up to $1,000 to purchase or lease an e-bike

The E-Bikes for Everyone program helps eligible residents purchase or lease a new e-bike. The incentive – up to $1,000 – will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. 

The rebate is for up to $1,000 for the purchase of a new e-bike OR you can lease an e-bike for one year through Ridepanda at a discounted rate.

Are you eligible?

To qualify for E-Bikes for Everyone, you must meet the following:

  1. Live in San Mateo County or the City of Los Banos
  2. Show proof of any ONE of the following:
  • Clipper START 
  • Residency in Affordable Housing, Public Housing, or Housing Choice Vouchers (Section 8)
  • California Alternate Rates for Energy Program (CARE) or Family Electrical Rate Assistance Program (FERA)
  • Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)
  • CalFresh/SNAP (Food Stamps)
  • Women, Infants, and Children (WIC)
  • CalWORKs (TANF) or Tribal TANF Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
  • Free or Reduced National School Lunch Program (NSLP)
  • Bureau of Indian Affairs General Assistance Head Start Income Eligible (Tribal Only)

If you are using Option 2, you must provide a copy of your filed tax return that shows your Adjusted Gross Income.

How it works

Step 1: Complete the application

If you need assistance completing the application or support in person, contact Senior Coastsiders or El Concilio (Hablamos Español)

Step 2: If approved, we will email you a unique code and details on how to purchase your e-bike from a participating bike shop, or how you can start a lease through Ridepanda. You will have 6 weeks (42 days) to either buy your bike or start a lease with Ridepanda.

Step 3: Purchase or lease your e-bike! 

E-Bike requirements

  • Must have operable pedals and an electric motor of less than 750 watts 
  • All classes (Class 1, Class 2, and Class 3) are eligible
  • Must be in new condition (demo bikes and blemished bikes are allowed)
  • Conversion kits, scooters, and mopeds are not eligible 
  • Accessories, bike locks, and helmets are not included
  • Assembly fees may be included
