1		AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 1558
2		AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 1558 by replacing
3		everything after the enacting clause with the following:
4		"Section 5. The Public Community College Act is amended by
5		adding Section 2-27 as follows:
6		(110 ILCS 805/2-27 new)
7		Sec. 2-27. Direct support professional training program.
8		By July 1, 2025, the State Board shall submit recommendations
9		for a model program of study, for credit, that incorporates
10		the training and experience necessary to serve as a direct
11		support professional to the Department of Human Services. The
12		model program of study shall be developed in consultation with
13		stakeholders, including, but not limited to, organizations
14		representing community-based providers serving children and
15		adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities, and
16		elementary and secondary education practitioners, including,

1		but not limited to, teachers, administrators, special
2		education directors, and regional superintendents of schools.
3		Beginning with the 2026-2027 academic year and continuing for
4		not less than 2 academic years, the State Board shall make
5		available to community colleges the model program of study
6		developed under this Section.".
