1:15 p.m. - Reducing the Waste Stream: Paul Connett, author of The Zero Waste Solution
Scientist-turned-activist Paul Connett, a leading international figure in decades-long battles to fight pollution, has championed efforts to curtail overconsumption and keep industrial toxins out of our air and drinking water and bodies. But he’s best known around the world for leading efforts to help communities deal with their waste in sustainable ways—in other words, to eliminate and reuse waste rather than burn it or stow it away in landfills.
1:45 p.m. - Carbon Neutrality by 2050; planning for 2030: Maia Davis, Senior Environmental Planner, Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments
2:10 p.m. - Creating a Strong Climate Resilience Plan: Corey Miles, Coastal Resources Program Manager, Northern Virginia Regional Commission
2:35 p.m. - FACS Advocacy Training: Anthony Granado, FACS Board Member and Public Policy Expert
Anthony Granado has served as Vice President of Government Relations for Catholic Charities USA (CCUSA) since May of 2019. Anthony directs the Social Policy Team at CCUSA who analyze and make recommendations on legislative and regulatory affairs in service to the mission of CCUSA, the member agencies and the clients that are served on a daily basis throughout the country. Prior to coming to CCUSA, Anthony served as Director for the Office of Domestic Social Development at the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops where he managed a policy team providing analysis on U.S. domestic policy in service to the Catholic Bishops of the United States.
