Tell NRC NOT to Give Aging Nuclear Reactors 20 More Years!
Urgent! The NRC is considering a 20-year license extension for two nuclear power reactors at Comanche Peak, in Glen Rose, Texas. These reactors are 40 miles southwest of Fort Worth, part of the the Dallas/ Fort Worth metroplex that is home to 7.76 million people.
Aging reactors become more dangerous due to stress corrosion and embrittlement. Cracks can develop, increasing the risk of radioactive releases. Luminant’s customers could see very high utility bills if costly repairs are needed. Solar and wind power could meet the need for electricity more affordably and without creating more deadly radioactive waste.
Tell the NRC to reject the license extensions for Comanche Peak, to hold in-person scoping hearings in Texas, to allow a hearing, and to extend the deadline for comments and hearing requests.
Act Now! Tell NRC to retire reactors, not risk our health and safety!
