Most people with lupus report symptoms of depression and anxiety. Some studies report rates of depression and anxiety twice as high in people with lupus as compared to the general population.

About Ben Small, M.D.
Dr. Ben Small is a rheumatologist in Chicago, IL. He received his BA from Brown University and his MD from Rush Medical College. He completed a fellowship in rheumatology at the University of Illinois. He now practices at Rheumatology Associates, a private rheumatology practice group in Chicago. Dr. Small specializes in diagnosing and treating patients with all forms of arthritis and systemic autoimmune diseases such as lupus. He is passionate about the field of rheumatology and strives to provide his patients with the latest and most effective treatments available, He is also interested in research and has published several journal articles, abstracts and book chapters. Dr. Small is board certified in both internal medicine and rheumatology. He is a member of the medical staff at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and has offices at both Rush and Northwestern.
