December 2021 Alexandria Hub Updates

An Active November by Alexandria Congregations

Local Alexandria congregations had some great events:

  • Alfred Street Baptist Church put on a Climate Change & Severe Weather Preparedness Workshop
  • Old Presbyterian Meeting House hosted theologian Bill Brown who focuses on faith and sustainability
  • Members of a number of congregations participated in the City’s first public meeting on its climate plan update

Great work Alexandrians!

Alexandria Hub Monthly Meeting & UN Climate Conference Recap, December 14th, 7:00-8:30pm (Virtual)

Join us for a rundown of the United Nations Climate Conference in Glasgow by FACS members, update on the City’s climate planning process, and discussion of current group activities. If you are not already on our hub list, sign up for monthly meeting invites.

Winter Advocacy Activities

  • We will continue involvement in the City’s update of its Energy and Climate Change Action Plan, advocating for a more robust public outreach process to vulnerable communities and just climate solutions.
  • FACS ALX members will also be pushing for climate priorities in the City budget and coordinating with other NoVa FACS hubs on state-level legislative priorities. We look forward to meeting with City Council and General Assembly members to introduce ourselves and discuss our priorities.

Happy Holidays!
