American Sustainable Business Council Applauds House Passage of the Budget Resolution Package

Media Release

Washington, D.C. — The American Sustainable Business Council (ASBC) applauds the passage of $3.5 trillion top-line budget resolution, which now establishes a timeframe for committees to submit their full packages for the anticipated reconciliation measure by September 15. Today’s vote of 220-212 also sets a deadline for consideration no later than September 27 of the Senate-passed Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (HR 3684), also known as the bipartisan infrastructure bill.

These are important next steps in President Biden’s Build Back Better agenda, for which ASBC has advocated because these investments are essential to business not just to recover from the devastation of the pandemic, but to create a far more equitable, just and broadly prosperous economy. While HR 3684 includes important progress on America’s physical infrastructure, the budget resolution includes sufficient funding in areas where HR 3684 falls short, especially to deal with climate change, improve water and sewer systems, expand transit, invest in regenerative agriculture and establish a national paid family and medical leave.
