Thompson Middle School student Katie Guinan plants the 1,000,001st daffodil bulb since the Newport Daffodil Project began during a ceremony outside of City Hall in Newport on Monday. Ronald Lee Fleming, second from left, and Mayor Harry Winthrop, third from left, planted the 999,999th and 1 millionth, respectively.
