Democrat Privilege: John Lewis Funeral Attendees Exempted From D.C. Quarantine Requirement

Large church service with no social distancing, and free to return to D.C. without self-quarantining.

Over the last few months, Americans have watched in disgust as Democrat leaders banned people from attending church or opening their businesses, while allowing massive protests and riots.

Now the funeral for Congressman John Lewis has shown, beyond any doubt, that there are two sets of rules, one for the liberal, political elite class, and another for everyone else.

The funeral service for Lewis seemed to be a substitute for the Democratic National Convention, with politicized speeches from Obama and other members of the ruling class.

Images showed people packed into church pews, something not allowed for the general public. Attendees were even exempted from quarantine policy in Washington, DC.

Jon Brown writes at The Daily Wire:

DC Mayor Exempts John Lewis Funeral Attendees From City’s Quarantine Restrictions

Lawmakers who attended the funeral of late Rep. John Lewis (D-GA) in Atlanta earlier this week are exempt from Washington, D.C.’s, self-quarantine restrictions, according to District Mayor Muriel Bowser’s office.

According to the mayor’s July 24 order, titled “Requirement to Self-Quarantine After Non-Essential Travel During the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency,” any residents who travel to “high-risk” areas for “non-essential” reasons must self-quarantine for 14 days and monitor themselves for symptoms of the virus.

The order mandates in part:

1. All residents and persons traveling to or from “high-risk areas” within the prior fourteen (14) days for non-essential travel must self-quarantine for fourteen (14) days following their return or arrival to the District.

2. Persons who are self-quarantining after non-essential travel must:

a. Stay at their residence or in a hotel room, leaving only for essential medical appointments or treatment or to obtain food and other essential goods when the delivery of food or other essential goods to their residence or hotel is not feasible;

b. Not invite or allow guests, other than caregivers, into their quarantined residence or hotel room; and

c. Self-monitor for symptoms of COVID-19 and seek appropriate medical advice or testing if COVID-19 symptoms arise.

3. Persons who are traveling through a “high-risk area,” such as through an airport or by vehicle, shall not be subject to this quarantine requirement.

People at the Lewis funeral weren’t even practicing social distancing:

People across the country have been denied the ability to bury their loved ones, or be near them in their final moments. Families have missed births, weddings, funerals and more for months. Democrat leaders just sent a powerful message to the rest of the country.

They are more important than you are. Like the sign in Orwell’s ‘Animal Farm’ which read “All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.”

More of Rules for thee, not for me.
It’s only religious service where you can get Covid-19, not protests that take place in a church.

From the Democrat Party that also brought you slavery, the KKK, and Jim Crow…… Now they bring you RIOTS and DEATH…

Wait, we are upset about this? I thought we were not doing the whole ‘buying into the covid bs’. So Covid is a real threat, or its perfectly fine to send the kids to school tomorrow? Cause I also just read that the Rep conventions and rallys are being closed, or restricted. Why is it safe for my kids to bring home the virus to me, but not safe enough to go support Donny in person?

LookoutABear in reply to OrJustThink. | August 2, 2020 at 10:16 am

Whether or not you buy into it, you have to play by the rules they set for us.

They are just blatantently showing that the rules don’t apply to them.

So it’s the double standard that is infuriating

Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals – number 4: “Make the enemy live up to its own book of rules.”

healthguyfsu in reply to OrJustThink. | August 2, 2020 at 1:01 pm

This has to be the weakest drive-by gotcha attempt I’ve seen here in a long time.

You gotta do better than that.

If a church or funeral director won’t allow more than 10 people because of government mandate, then it doesn’t matter whether they virus is dangerous or not.

What does matter is that the virus (which I do believe is dangerous) does not care whether you are at a funeral for John Lewis or Daffy Duck. However, corrupt and hypocritical “rules for thee” leftists ignore the science and make rules conditional for their pet projects.

I take it from the actions of the Democrat party muckety mucks who attended the funeral that social distancing isn’t important as a preventative to stop the spread and that the restrictions on numbers at gatherings aren’t, either. Of course, we’ll never know if they come down with the crud or not, as they won’t ever admit it and the MSM won’t publicize the names of those attendees who get sick in about a week or two.

randian in reply to OrJustThink. | August 2, 2020 at 3:48 pm

Because your kids won’t bring the virus home to you. There have been no documented cases of child->adult transmission. For the same reason, the kids won’t infect each other or get it from adults, which is why it’s safe to send them to school. That is why teacher’s union demands not to start in-person schooling are clearly fraudulent, they are at no meaningful risk because they can’t get covid-19 from the children.

    dmi60ex in reply to OrJustThink. | August 2, 2020 at 4:47 pm

Studies from Europe shows there is insignificant transmission from children to adults and no outbreaks due to school
Go back to hiding in your basement.
Go ahead put your own needs ahead of our children.
Try expanding your horizons beyond the lies you get at MSM

Exactly,as I don’t shed tears for dead Marxist’s,why would they be prevented from more of them leaving this earthly coil.

This needs to spread far and wide! I know people who had to wait months to bury someone.

What amazes me is like the protests, they are so in your face about how the rules don’t apply to them.

These hypocritical SOBs can go pound sand with their “rules”.

wait, haven’t we be told that blacks are suffered the surge of covid at disproportionate rates? that the infection is all but racist in how it attacks african american communities?
yet, this appears to be a largely AA crowd! how can this be?
has a way been found for blacks to be saved from this terrible affliction? if so, “fauci the magnanimous” must tell the nation!

How many school teachers or school administrators were in the church?

Yet another example of what we can expect if Joe Biden and the rest of the Communist Party seize power this November.

It is sobering to realize that there are millions of Americans who see this going on – and have no problem with it.

It sure is a great thing to have our “elite” rulers spit in our face every single day !

No surprise here. This is the same group that gleefully cheered on Obama while he weaponized various federal agencies against Conservatives.

Dox the attendees – in the name of public health.

JOHN B in reply to DuxRedux. | August 2, 2020 at 7:11 pm

Dox them by listing their addresses and claiming they are Trump supporters. Let their own “peaceful protesters” pay them a visit.
    .

So I’m wondering when the backlash to this bullsh*t is really going to start. Also wondering how and even IF it’s going to start. Will it be in smallish, random acts of defiance, or will it be one big “this far, no farther” moment? Or a bit of both?

All I know is right now, even though they’re clearly a minority, the left LOOKS like it is scoring points on the rest of the country at will. What’s the tipping point? Is there a tipping point? I’m getting really, really, really tired of just “taking it”. Maybe that’s just me.

LookoutABear in reply to UJ. | August 2, 2020 at 12:41 pm

It doesn’t look like they are scoring points to me. Sure if you live in the left-wing media bubble, you might eat this stuff up.

Those outside the bubble, those who have had property destroyed or worse by “peaceful protests”, etc. Those who can’t bury loved ones or have to deal with scaled-back funerals. They are waking up.

Ultimately the problem for the left is they have censored or intimidated people making criticism in their bubbles that they have no idea when they cross the line. That’s why every few days there is a new PR disaster for the Dems/left.

Protest Over Masks In Germany Draws Thousands…

The media wants you to think only Americans hate this crap.

my essential is more important than your essential

    Essentially, yes.

      buck61 in reply to UJ. | August 2, 2020 at 1:08 pm

the wuhan virus is more dangerous than we every imagined, the mayor has been told that it is so smart that it won’t infect those who were in the travel party to Atlanta on those specific days, in that specific church at that specific time

The DC quarantine “requirement” is pretty much unenforceable anyway. It’s basically an attempt to scare tourists from coming and DC residents from taking vacations to undesirable places, although if they want to go to MD or VA they can since they’re not on the list of states considered to be “high risk” (those states can’t be just because of geography and federal employees).

There are about 6 museums and the National Zoo open right now. So what’s to stop people from Florida or New York from driving to the area or flying into one of the local airports in VA or MD, staying in a hotel there, and taking the Metro or Uber into DC when they want to go sightseeing?

    p in reply to p. | August 2, 2020 at 12:04 pm

Just adding that yes, I see the hypocrisy of it all, and the media broadcast it far and wide when multiple networks were showing the funeral live.

Democrat Privilege: Joe Biden is exempted from attending the highest level event of his campaign for President of the United States. Why? His handlers did not dare take a chance on bringing him out in public.

Google “Biden did not attend John Lewis’ Funeral” and see what comes up.

If we still had a legal system, this would be ripe for a 14th Amendment “equal treatment under the law” challenge. Since we don’t, the only real answer is to make enforcing it a lethal proposition.

DaveGinOly in reply to SDN. | August 2, 2020 at 3:54 pm

If it were a “law,” wouldn’t the principle of “equality under the law” prevent an executive from carving out an exemption from it for a distinct group or class of citizens? We know the answer to this question. Logically, what was done here was either illegal (referring here to the mayor’s exemption, but would also apply to the gathering itself because the exemption was illegal), or the pandemic “orders” are not law.

John Lewis is dead? Who noticed?

Democrats do love dead bodies to dance on

(even the little ones they toss in the trash can)

DaveGinOly in reply to murkyv. | August 2, 2020 at 3:59 pm

They are always the first to use dead bodies as podia from which to move their agenda items forward. It’s usually dead children, and the bodies aren’t yet even cold. It’s opportunistic, insincere, cynical, and morbid. It’s also SOP for the Democrats.

We shall see masks being put to the test with this blatant exception.

Democrats to America: “You little people need to stay hidden away in your homes with your faces covered so that our political allies are left free to burn down your police stations, loot your stores, tear down all the statues of historical figures, and put your restaurants and other workplaces out of business. Now mail in your ballots so we can replace Emperor OrangeManBad the Impeached with our senile figurehead so we can make some REAL changes to America.”

What’s the big deal? This is just how it is — and ever has been — for those of us who live in Proconsul Cuomo-the-Younger’s province.

Downstate got their Uber and Lyft immediately, because can’t inconvenience the constituencies; while upstate had to wait for “safety” n “oversight” policies — meaning what kind of insurance was gonna be required, to give those folks a taste.

BierceAmbrose | August 2, 2020 at 4:43 pm

They’re gonna try this stuff with the election. All voter access is equal, but some is more equal than others…

– Find yr local election authority, n start monitoring.

– Engage however you can locally, as a citizen: poll watcher, whatever.

– Make press contact: feed them stuff ahead of time, so they’ll take your call when you have something you want to get out there. (“Did you know about the surprise COVID screening on the way into the polling place? It’s here; is it everywhere in the county?”)

– Use independent tech to spin up a local coord group of like-minded
— Contact n recruit, motivate n commit ahead of time.
— Coordinate on day of: they’ll throw all kinds of barriers, disinformation, n friction to drive the polling. Near-real-time mutual coordiation works around, so you get to the polls.

I suggest a Signal messaging group as a pretty good choice for the coordination. There are quite a few alternatives. Stay away from anything “native” to any of the big platforms, or built in China (or Russia, or their minions.)

The folks oriented toward this kind of autonomy, security, n privacy will vet all this for themselves. Draft on their effort.

I often think of the current US political situation as something like Tea Party 2.0.

Tea Party 1.0 thought the system was on the up and up. Show up, make yr case, n you’ll influnce what happens. Tea Party 1.0 learned that the processes n protocols are for the other guys just a fig leaf of fake legitimacy, on machinery to be hijacked to disenfranchise the WrongThinking. That’s you.

So, Tea Party 2.0. A feral-smart billionaire who’s navigated at least 2, perhaps 3 encumbered, corrupt, influence-entangled industries was, it turns out, just the guy it took to crush through the Kabuki.

You don’t have to be a womanizer, a boor, or even have questionable hair, BUT, the lesson here is, it’s a rigged system of patronage full of clients, grifters, n opportunists. You can play it on the up and up, even, as long as you know you’re playing in a rigged game. We don’t need voting fraud, just to honestly mobilize votes, n know the fraud the other guys will try.

Politics was never easy. We choose to play honest, but many forgot that in essence you have to play hard.

I AM NOT ADVOCATING FIRES OF OTHER MAYHEM. That said, this take on getting back to the inspiration before the institution became an institution is exactly right.

Between this funeral and the riots, anyone with half a brain can see that the virus panic is nothing but a hoax.

They think you’re stupid.

You’ve been played, people.

Write to your Congressional representatives – especially if they are Democrats – asking them to make a public statement about this. Write to your Governors, and to your mayors, asking them for a statement. Do they agree? Do they denounce? Should those funeral attendees be forced into quarantine?

Contact your local TV stations about this. This is an opportunity to force the hypocrisy into the national conversation. If these ‘powers that be’ will not denounce the mayor of DC and demand that these people be forced into quarantine, then there is no reason that we should pay any attention to our local versions of this mad dance.

When it comes to the Wu Flu, all church services are equal, just when it comes to DemoKKKRATS, some church services are more equal than others.

OTOH ex-prez Obongo turned the “funeral” into a “Stinkfinger” Biden campaign rally. What a classless fool he is. It was the Paul Wellstone funeral redux.

Different rules for different people are unconstitutional.

Pass a law that all laws passed shall be followed by lawmakers and other public officials. Any variation shall be a violation of the public trust and the person will receive 25-life in prison. This shall include medical insurance, travel reimbursement, personal or professional security, and all public expenditure must be paid back within 30 days from a personal private account and not a campaign fund or public account or trust.
They should have to follow the same laws that we have on us.
