National Trails Day: Buttermilk Fens Buck and Rail Fence Installation

Join Friends of the Inyo and the Inyo National Forest for a Buck and Rail fence installation project. The aim is to protect sensitive riparian Fens/Water drainages out beyond the Buttermilks Boulders from OHV and Grazing.   When: Saturday, June 1st @ 9AM until mid/late afternoon (2-4PM)   What: We will be carpooling out to the worksite and installing Buck and Rail barriers to keep livestock and vehicles out of sensitive habitat. 2024's Annual June Lake Trails Day, Saturday July 6th     WHEN: Saturday, July 6th, 2024 from 8:30am to 12:30pm   WHERE: Meet at the June Lake Community Center Parking Lot/June Lake Community Park. Here   WHAT: Join June Lake Trails Committee and Friends of the Inyo for a fun morning of maintaining popular trails and picking up trash and fishing line around the June Lake Loop.  Friends of the Inyo will provide gloves, trash bags, and tools. Bring water, sunscreen, and appropriate footwear for hiking. No charge. All ages welcome!

Volunteer Work-Week: Golden Trout Wilderness Fence Removal

Join Friends of the Inyo and the USFS on a Volunteer Work-Week in the Golden Trout Wilderness! When: August 1st through 5th This is a 5 day 4 night overnight remote trip. Participants must have their own camping gear and be familiar with Backcountry hiking and camping. What: Remove defunct grazing structures from alpine meadows We will be hiking to and from our worksite daily, dismantling fence structures, and hauling materials to an extraction point.
