Dear Supporter,

Homelessness and housing insecurity are two of the greatest challenges facing our state. While California has multiple programs to address homelessness, these programs operate independently from each other and are administered by several different agencies and departments, diminishing effectiveness and efficiency. In fact, the state has no single agency or office setting state homelessness policy.

Fortunately, there’s a solution. Assembly Bill 1845 from Assemblywoman Luz Rivas would help coordinate the 30 homelessness programs and various agencies delivering these programs under one state office. As California funds and implements policy solutions around homelessness, we must ensure that we’re spending taxpayer dollars wisely, coordinating strategically, and investing in evidence-based solutions.

We know legislators listen to constituents like you. Please urge them to support legislation that will more effectively deliver housing and services to those who are experiencing homelessness or on the brink of homelessness. AB 1845 will be heard in the Assembly Appropriations Committee on Tuesday, June 2.
