More About "Scenes From Our Mighty Mississippi"
From the great migration in Fall to baby wood ducks leaping from their nest in Spring, from the majestic bluffs to the backwaters in bloom, from the headwaters in Lake Itasca to the mouth at the Gulf of Mexico, Steven Marking presents the entire length of the magnificent Mississippi River in stunning high definition.
In this truly unique and joyful show, Steven Marking wrote the script, took all the pictures and video, edited the entire presentation, composed three of the songs, tells the stories, sings the songs, and guides the audience on an unforgettable journey. From Jerome Kern’s beloved "Ol’ Man River" to Paul Simon’s "Bridge Over Troubled Water", Steven’s soaring baritone voice will captivate and inspire you as he masterfully navigates multiple genres of music.
After the presentation, Steven will answer your questions. You'll also hear from Mississippi River Network staff, including Executive Director, Kelly McGinnis.
“Having worked on the Mississippi for almost thirty years, and paddled its length, I found 'Our Mighty Mississippi' truly captures the River's spirit.”
- John Sullivan, Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources
