DAVIDSON, N.C. — The body of a North Carolina teacher declared dead in Mexico has been recovered, according to a Facebook post.

Patrick Braxton-Andrew, 34, "died on October 28 at the hands of a criminal organization that operates in the area where he was traveling,” according to a post made last week by a Facebook page that had been providing updates on the Davidson Spanish teacher.

The post said the information about his death came from Chihuahua State authorities.

On Sunday, the page said that Braxton-Andrew’s body was recovered and will be sent back to North Carolina.

“It is with a sense of relief that we are able to confirm that Patrick’s body has been recovered and we will be able to bring him home soon,” the post said.

According to the Davidson College Alumni Facebook page, 34-year-old Braxton-Andrew disappeared after going on a walk in Urique, Mexico.
