Description
As EDF’s Associate Vice President, State Affairs, Hawley Truax is responsible for expanding the influence, visibility, and effectiveness of EDF in North Carolina and the southeast region. He serves as an ambassador for all of EDF program priorities including climate change, clean energy, ecosystems, health, environmental justice, and sustainable fisheries.
Hawley works closely with EDF’s staff and strategic partners to engaged in work across each of the organization’s core program areas. He is a liaison to the North Carolina Advisory Board, and cultivates collaborative relationships with leaders in the public and private sectors.
Background
Before joining EDF, Hawley was a program officer overseeing environmental and energy grantmaking for the Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation. Prior to this role, Hawley served as Senior Policy Advisor to North Carolina’s Governor, a Senior Planner with the City of Cambridge, MA, and Editor of Environmental Action Magazine.
Education
Hawley has a bachelor’s degree from Amherst College and a Master degree in Public policy from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.
