A Bill to Incentivize Cali Residents to Go Car-Free
Senator Anthony Portantino (D – La Cañada/Flintridge) has hit on another way to provide relief to people who really need it – and that would help the state meet its climate goals. His bill, S.B. 457, would offer a tax credit to taxpayers who do not own a car. It’s a stimulus aimed at people who need it most – those who cannot afford a car – as well as in incentive for everyone to reduce dependence on cars.

Glendale streetcar on track to break ground by 2026
The Glendale Streetcar, which has been under study for a half-decade, would run along an alignment once served by the Pacific Electric Railway, and could eventually serve as a starter line for a system extending toward Burbank. The project would serve a roughly 2.6-square-mile area centered on Brand Boulevard and Central Avenue that is home to approximately 62,000 residents and 43,000 jobs.

First look at Huntington Drive's proposed revamp
The four-mile project corridor between Los Angeles County + USC Medical Center and the City of Alhambra - originally a Pacific Electric Railway right-of-way - features between two and three bidirectional travel lanes, and is served by bus lanes and Class II bike lanes.
City Contemplates A Valley Boulevard Makeover
The above are a few of the ideas that have been proposed and contemplated for a 4-mile stretch of Valley Boulevard and Mission Road that runs through El Sereno and Lincoln Heights.
It is one of three street makeovers -- including Huntington Drive and Eastern Avenue -- in the city that will be partly funded with money released after the 710 Freeway extension was canceled.
A survey found several challenges and problems along Valley, from traffic congestion and waiting for trains to a lack of sidewalks and bus stop amenities.
