Social Work Internships in Transitional Housing Programs

Please read the following information about interning in the Housing Department at 360 Youth Services.

The Housing Department accepts Master’s level internship applications for MSW students on a rolling basis beginning 12/1 for the 2022-2023 school year (or until all three spots are filled).

Each year, 360’s Housing Department accepts internship applications starting in December for students pursuing their Masters in Social Work. Ultimately 360 aims to select three interns each year to work with young people in our transitional housing programs for youth ages 18-24 who are experiencing homelessness.

Details:

  • Our housing programs are located near downtown Naperville.
  • Internships typically start in August and end in May.
  • We require that interns spend at least 2 semesters with the program and ideally span at least 9 months. Given the population that we serve, we do not want adults in and out of our young people’s lives so quickly so we cannot accommodate 3-6 month internships.
  • The internship is ideal for students interested in working with youth experiencing homelessness, LGBTQ+ youth, individuals interested in social justice, etc. Interns will provide case management and 1:1 support for 2-3 residents and have the opportunity to run groups and teach life skills.

Requirements to Apply:

  • Submit a Resume and Cover Letter (detailing your interest in working with this population)
  • 2 Letters of Recommendation at the time of application (a 3rd will be required before starting an internship at 360 Youth Services)
  • Willingness to work between 16-20 hours per week, with at least one full day shift. Evenings and some weekends can be accommodated.
