Qravings #Congressional App Challenge Fundraiser

The goal of Qravings is to empower consumers to make conscious food choices when dining out. We want to give consumers the opportunity to view their food options in 3-D form, so they know what their food looks like. Los Angeles is a culturally rich and diverse city with a wealth of food options, yet, many of us gravitate towards what we are familiar with. By illustrating what food looks like, consumers can imagine what the food tastes like, increasing the likelihood of people venturing to new food.

Besides helping the consumer make food choices, we also aim to help small businesses promote. Los Angeles recently legalized street vending. Through our Qravings app, small businesses will compete with larger restaurants in attracting customers.

 4 inner-city high school students from Los Angeles who are interested in computer technology developed the Qravings app. Our shared interest in technology led us to joining Teens Exploring Technology (TXT). At TXT, we became involved in the Summer Coding Leadership Academy. Our team began developing the model that led to our app, Qravings. TXT is a coding educational program for students of low-income backgrounds, such as ourselves. Coding is the catalyst of change to transform students from urban high school students to technology leaders who build positive communities.

After our summer experience at TXT, we remained involved with the continued design and coding of our application. We submitted our application and pitch to the Congressional App Challenge and won!

We are fundraising to accomplish our goal of attending the Congressional App Challenge event in Washington, DC called #HouseOfCode. There, we will have the opportunity of pitching our Qravings app to investors, and take part in the program ceremony. #HouseofCode takes place on March 24th.
