Five Messages for the 2021 Summit for Democracy

As the world’s leading democracies gather to affirm the centrality of democracy and democratic freedoms to a more peaceful and prosperous world, the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES), together with other pro-democracy organizations and institutions, has joined forces to issue Five Messages ahead of this week’s Summit for Democracy.  

This collective effort underscores the work that is needed to support inclusive and credible elections, to confront corruption, to hold elected leaders accountable and to defend fundamental human rights, civil society and independent media. With these Five Messages, we call upon Summit participants to demonstrate global leadership and solidarity in defending and advancing democracy at home and around the world.
