About this event

AAJA New York is partnering with mental health experts for a weekly series of off-the-record conversations in May about how we as Asians and Asian Americans show up in the world and in our work, including caregiving for our aging community and identifying burnout.

The Zoom events are open to all AAJA members with each session capped at 25 people. Conversations will be a mix of presentation and facilitation, with time for Q&As. Certain programming may be better suited for members in the New York region, but you do not have to be a New York chapter member to join. They’ve been specified below.

Your AAJA membership MUST be up-to-date in order to attend the event.

The schedule is as follows:

  • Monday, May 8: America’s Next Top Model Minority: Burnout Recovery in the Asian American Community led by Dr. Matt Poon
  • Monday, May 15: Preparing for Elder Care led by Dr. Yu-Kang Chen (Resources provided during the conversation may be limited to New York state only)
  • Monday, May 22: Asian Cultural Values: How Does It Benefit and Challenge You in Your Life, Relationship and Career? Led by Dr. Nicole Benedicto Elden
  • Tuesday, May 30: Rest and Recovery from Burnout and Anxiety led by Joanna Chang, LCSW
  • All Zooms will take place at 6 p.m. ET. You can submit anonymous questions before the event at bit.ly/mentalhealth-submitquestion
