ACTION ALERT

Replace Toxic Lead Service Lines NOW

WHAT IS HAPPENING?
Right now, Illinois has a huge opportunity to pass legislation that would eliminate lead service lines in Illinois. It is estimated that ⅛ of all lead service lines in the country are in Illinois, leaving hundreds of thousands of Illinoisans at risk.

The Centers for Disease Control has found there is no safe level of lead exposure. Even low levels of exposure can lead to learning disabilities, stunted growth, lower IQ, impaired hearing, and behavioral issues in children, and increase the risk of cardiovascular disease, as well as reproductive and kidney problems in adults.

Illinois has more lead service lines than any other state, and a disproportionate number of these lines are found in Black and Brown communities. We must pass legislation that creates a plan, funding, and timeline to replace all lead service lines in Illinois.
