In lieu of our 12th annual organic farming conference in Idaho, due to the coronavirus pandemic, NCAP hosted virtual workshops and a Northwest farmer social hour. These sessions were offered:

Feb. 24: Workshop for Farmers Interested in Transitioning to Organic 

Workshop for farmers interested in transitioning to organic, hosted by certifiers in the Northwest. Come learn what it takes to become organically certified. This workshop is open to farmers of all sizes. It is best suited for farmers in Washington, Oregon, and Idaho, but will be applicable to any farmer interested in becoming organically certified following USDA National Organic Program standards. Come learn from Oregon Tilth and Idaho State Department of Agriculture Organic Program certifiers what to expect and get your questions answered. 

Feb. 25: Northwest Farmer Social

Social hour to connect with farmers from across our network. An homage to the networking discussions that happen during face-to-face events. During the first 25 minutes you'll get the chance to meet farmers in randomized small groups of 4-5 people, a group space will also be held for BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and People of Color) farmers. For the remaining hour you'll be able to move between virtual meeting rooms focused on topics we identify during the registration process. 

Feb. 26: State of Organics in Idaho

NCAP's 4th State of Organics in Idaho will focus on the growth of organics over the past 5 years. It will highlight the 2019 National Agriculture Statistics Service (NASS) Organic Survey results for Idaho and provide space for the Idaho organic community to discuss needs, challenges, and successes. This session will only be applicable to the Idaho organic farming community, or those interested in learning about it. Presenters: Randy Welk, Idaho State Statistician USDA-NASS and Gwen Ayres, ISDA Organic Program Manager.
