A state senator was admitted to the hospital on Sunday after sustaining serious injuries to his legs in a motorcycle accident, PennLive reported Monday.
State Sen. Mike Regan, R-York, was recovering at Milton S. Hershey Hospital as of Monday morning, his chief of staff, Bruce McLanahan, told PennLive.
McLanahan could not be immediately reached for comment Monday morning.
But he told PennLive that Regan, an experienced motorcycle rider, was wearing a helmet during his Sunday morning crash, and that more details would be made public when Regan’s condition changed.
Regan was elected to the state Senate in 2016 after serving two terms in the state House. A retired U.S. Marshal, he has spearheaded initiatives creating new regulations and grant programs to fortify schools against school shootings.
The state Senate is scheduled to be in session starting Tuesday this week. Regan is one of five Republican lawmakers on the Senate’s election integrity commission, which is scheduled to meet Tuesday to hear from local election officials across the state.
Regan’s York County-based 31st Senate district also includes part of Cumberland County.
