Following a successful community campaign, Great Peninsula Conservancy acquired the 100-acre Hansville Greenway Expansion in January 2022. Thanks to continued community support, restoration efforts are now underway! In collaboration with the Port Gamble S’Klallam Tribe, Hansville Greenway Association, and Kitsap County Parks, intrepid volunteers and GPC staff planted 1,200 trees at the site in February 2023. With the generous donation of 1,200 trees from Kitsap County Parks Department, our team got a head start on the reforestation efforts at this preserve while weathering blustery winter weather. Thanks to everyone who made it out to help!

Before the planting could start, GPC needed to make space and cut back invasive plants. Watch the video below, narrated by Stewardship Manager Adrian Wolf to learn more.
