Task Force on NJEDA Tax Incentive Programs Issues First Report

NJEDA Tax Incentive Task Force Counsel Jim Walden

Today, following a ruling by Assignment Judge Mary Jacobson in favor of Governor Phil Murphythe Task Force on EDA’s Tax Incentives issued its first report containing initial factual findings and recommendations to the governor regarding improvements to any future tax-incentive legislation and enhancements to the EDA’s oversight of tax-incentive programs.

Spurred by a report issued by the New Jersey State Comptroller in January that disclosed a lack of monitoring and oversight over past awards, as well as thousands of unsubstantiated jobs, the Task Force continues to review every award with paid benefits under two tax-incentive programs and will issue additional findings as the work proceeds.
